Last Sunday

Sunday at CeresSeeds
Tiny pots
Composting Toilets! Eek!Chook groupHerbs with cute flowers
Paper DaisiesWe'll be back : )We found a mongolian tentSuch a cute bench!
Darren brought me to Ceres Permaculture and bushfood nursery. There wasn't much going on that day but It was fun to just take a slow stroll around all the greenery. We found composting toilets, which I didn't dare enter. Having the thought of someone's poopy just a meter below your bum, with worms all around it just makes my hair stand. Haha. Apart from creepy crawly composting toilets, we found a mongolian tent. It was huge! And we saw chickens run around, some hydro-powered wind mill, garden patches, and lots of nice lovely green!

It was like a mini science lesson, quite fun actually. I'd love to go back there again!

Hope you guys are having a great Thursday!

'For Always and Ever' Opening night
It was such a blast! So so so many people came and everyone was laughing, smiling, enjoying themselves. It was awesome! You know, there were so many people, it kind of scared the gallery's cat away. That was how packed it was. Best part of all, they were mostly strangers! All the previous shows I had, people who came were usually friends, just a few strangers. But for this show, not many of our friends came. Instead they were mostly strangers, which was a good thing cause we made new friends! People were spilling out into the garden, on the streets, on the stairs, etc. And because our art was really quite affordable, there were a few interested buyers too! So that was great. To see strangers smiling and pondering over which pieces they liked and might buy, that really warms my heart.

You know, a sweet man named Joseph drove all the way down specially just for opening night. He lives high right up in Mt Dandenong, all the way up in the mountains. He was really just a stranger whom we met on our not-so-long-ago day trip. We stumbled upon his fairytale-like bed and breakfast cottage house and he invited us in, showed us his place and even played the piano for us. He was nice so I thought I'd send him an invite by snail mail since he mentioned he likes looking at art. I thought nah, he probably would have forgotten me...

But he came!
I was so touched, it was so sweet of him. The next time we head up to the mountains, we'll be meeting for tea and perhaps some chinese food : )

Anyway, if you're interested in looking at more photos, you can check them out either on my flickr or on facebook! The show will be up till next Friday 6th November. So if you're free and would love to look at the pieces in real life, do drop by! If you're interested in purchasing any of the works, do phone Off the Kerb gallery during their opening hours ( Thurs - Sun 12.30-5pm ) or if you're from interstate, do email me and I'll be more than happy to send you photos, etc.

Cheers!
xx

( PS: Oh and you know, some wacko actually vandalized the front window of the gallery. He wrote'MUST SEE!' in bright pink! It was super mean but funny at the same time. Whoever did that, thank you for your public opinion, our art must have made you really happy, but please don't do such a thing, it's not good at all! Hah )

Fantastic Mr Fox!

fantastic-mr-fox-
Have you read this story before? I loved it when I read it as a kid and still do! One of my favourite stories! My other favourites were Mathilda, Charlie and the chocolate factory and George's marvelous medicine. As you can see, I'm a big big big fan of Roald Dahl. I used to secretly wish I would grow up to be like Miss Honey from Mathilda.

You see, as a young girl, I didn't really enjoy reading because I take so super long to finish every single book. But Roald Dahl's books were an exception. I remember just going on and on, flipping through every page. And because I used to indulge in his fantastic stories, I came to know of Mr amazing Quentin Blake's super drawings. And if you haven't already known, Quentin Blake is my all-time favourite artist! His drawings make me laugh and dream at the same time!

Tonight, just before I go to bed, I came across this interview he had with Telegraph UK. My heart skips a beat, I think I'll be going to bed with lovely sketchy characters prancing around in my head. Haha.
Good night!

PS: What's your favourite Roald Dahl/Children's story?

Hello!

Stairwell works
And so... opening night was a big blast! So many people came and everyone was just everywhere! We took so many photos, I'm still in the midst of sorting them out. So I'll update again with pictures soon! : )

Oh and if you would like to find out more about our show, do check out my interview on the Inside Out blog! Thank you so much Lee Tran!

xxx I'll be back soon!

Playing dress up

Playing dress up
Kooky picture just for keeps
Last night, Darren and I played dress up and picked out each other's outfits for tonight's opening. ( I can't believe it, it's happening Tonight!!! ) I mentioned previously, that Darren wanted to dress like Carl from Up.

Carl from up
But we couldn't find him a cute polka dotted bow tie, tweed pants and suspenders that matched. So he decided to just turn his tie into a bow tie and pair it with his new blue checkered shirt I picked out for him.

He's able to turn a tie into a bow tie!
I'll be wearing my vintage $5 dress. Along with a white flower in my hair ( unless I chicken out at the last minute and decide it's too big ). My housemate and her boyfriend saw us yesterday night and they both said we look quirky. That's cool, we wanted to achieve quirky.

Alright, I should go pack my bags and stuff. So much to bring to the opening later!
I hope you guys can come! : )

Big night tonight! Am super excited!
I promise lots of photos!

I'm wearing a $5 dress

Just one day to go!

spongecake
muffinslamingtons
jam drop cookies
Some of the five minute quick sketches of the little bits of food that's on our mini tea party menu. I am so excited and so super nervous at the same time. Tonight I will embark on my huge baking adventure and bake scones for the party tomorrow. I love scones and warm tea. Do you?

Gosh, I can't believe we're opening our show tomorrow. It's not a huge showing, but I'm still really excited. You know, I haven't been able to sleep proper these few days. I keep thinking of last minute stuff I need to make, pack, bring along, etc. I keep walking around places and saying 'I'm going crazy. Ahhh', while smacking both hands onto my cheeks. Can you imagine? I'm such a worry-wart! I wonder if I'll be able to sleep tonight!

Here's the invite again if you've not seen it. Will you be coming along? I'll be wearing a huge flower in my hair! Haha. So do say hi if you see me. I would love to meet you!
Approx 2 weeks left to our show opening!
Haha. For now, here's a cute little tune I've been singing along to, to calm my nerves.
