Hello!

Yes, that's me
Yes, that's me in my pink-panther self.

First off, thanks for all the lovely comments you guys have left both on my blog, and over on Pip's cute blog post. ( She's wonderful to organize a little giveaway! )You are all so sweet and encouraging! Reading through all the little comments, it makes me just want to keep doing more handmade stuff!

I want to specially mention this cute little comment by Sally:

A little Ditty for you and Dawn,

I'd love a little book from Dawn,
I'd use it lovingly 'till it was worn,
I'd use that book 'till from night till dawn,
That lovely little book from Dawn.

;-)

So cute, too cute!

Thanks everyone!

Anyway, I've been a bit busy spending my time waking around, taking in as much quaint cafes, good ice chocolates, and lovely wonderfully magical shops before I leave for a month long holiday back home to Singapore! I'll be able to see my family again and I can't wait! : )

Tomorrow, I'll be busy looking out for vintage maps and globes at
Camberwell Market. And when I come home I'll probably be too busy packing my luggage. I'll try to squeeze in a post or two if I can. But if not, I'll be back Tuesday for sure!

Till the next post, sending you my love and laughter all the way from melbourne,
Dawn xxx!

Hooray for handmade!

Hooray for handmade!
My little bit of handbound goodness!
Remember the handmade books I was telling you all about? They are now sold at this quaint lovely shop in Fitzroy, Melbourne!

63 Brunswick St, Fitzroy
Melbourne, Australia

I popped into the shop yesterday and had a little chat with Pip and Cameron, who both run and own the magical store. Pip's a nice sweet lady. I told her we were going to Jasper's Coffee after, for some coffee and iced chocolate and she told us to go try Monsieur Truffe on Smith Street. Haha. They even did this little funny french/italian imitation. What a cute couple! You can go visit Pip's blog here!

Gee.I'm super thrilled and excited about my art + books + things I make, going places here in Melbourne. It is such a wonderful opportunity, I'm really thankful for it!

" All good things need to start small. "

That's something I always tell myself everyday when I wake up. Every single day, I wake up knowing that one day, just one day, I'll be sitting ( or standing ), sipping tea in my own crafty, pretty little shop. My shop would have pretty handmade items. From books, to framed art and cute vintage goodness. I'd also have classes for wee kiddos or polite children. And I would be teaching them art in the most fun way possible, with yummy tea time treats and storytelling sessions while art making.

My average working day would revolve around running my shop, handcrafting more goodies for the shop, greeting customers and inviting them in for tea if time permits ( And if they're really nice ), and of course chasing after little budding artists with paint stained hands.

One day, just one day.

Meanwhile, do remember to check out my handmade books at the shop! : ) Each book was made with so much love, they're really precious!

Alright, you have a good weekend!

OOH!

Such a wonderful tea towel! I want one! But I should really not spend anymore. From ArthursCircus, you can get it here.

Was planning to walk from home ( I live in Southbank ) to West Melbourne to pop by this quaint little shop tomorrow. But judging from how achey my body is from today's walk ( From South to North Melbourne, home to Meet Me At Mikes and down Brunswick street and back home) , and how my guy friends called to say "there's a thing called the car'', and how they want to go along tomorrow but they'll be driving and picking us up, I think I'll give the walking a miss. Haha.

Another time maybe, when I'm up for it and feeling a little crazy and am excited enough to walk from South part of Melbourne to the West. Haha.

Words and Pictures {Sweet}

Sweet
Thanks to the wonderful Pip over at Meetmeatmikes for organizing this week's cute 'Words and Pictures'. When I think of the word sweet, the first thing that comes into my mind are the fabrics I bought/collect.

Such sweet fabrics! The colours and little dots, flowers, etc. I love em' all! I usually buy lots of cute fabrics/tea towels/ pillow covers, or anything resembling fabric I can cut up and work with. I buy them on rainy days, sunny days, warm days, cold days. I just buy them without thinking what I'd be able to do with them. You see, I don't sew a lot. Used to, but no longer. So I'm basically just buying because they look so pretty to not buy them. And occassionally, almost every week, I'd take them out, flip through the fabrics squares and go 'ooh... So pretty...' Yeah I'm silly I know. Hahaha. But I bet most girls out there love looking at fabrics too and don't use some of the fabrics they buy just because they are way too pretty to cut up. Am I right? Heh! (:

Anyway, I recently started making handbound books again. I use these lovely fabrics I've collected over the years as covers for the books. I'll take a picture of 3 pretty books and show them to you tomorrow!

Meanwhile, take out your little stash of 'sweet' fabrics and give them some attention too.

Pretty fabrics makes the world go round!
Hooray for that!

PS: I got the above two fabrics from Spotlight. They're having a massive sale now! I bought both for $4.99 in total( 1/2 a meter each! ) Oh and I'm so proud I walked all the way to the Spotlight at South Melbourne and back, in the freeeeezing rainy cold. All in the name of getting some exercise and moving my bum!

Now, I'm off to do more bookbinding with my pretty fabrics! Cheerios!

In the 'Master Chef' Kitchen last night

In the Master Chef kitchen last night
Darren and I cooked up a storm. Well, not a storm storm, but ribeye steak with a sweet red wine sauce to be exact. Ala Master Chef style. Haha. Yes, I know. I watch Master Chef almost every night.
Anyway, it was the BEST.BEEF.STEAK.EVER.COOKED.AT.HOME. We both sat there quietly, chomping away like dinosaurs, and even went for second helpings! So horrible, so unhealthy. But well, we all love our red meat once in a while. Haha.

Do try the recipe if you can! You can watch the cooking step by step, in action here!
Yum!
