Good Morning!
Hello! I'm so glad to be back here well again. My eye was really getting the better of me and I had to really stay away from the computer and get lots of rest. But anyway, I'm back! And boy, does it feel good : )
I made myself yummy pancakes with caramelized apples this morning. And it tasted awesome! Eating it alone was boring though. I wish some of you were here to share it with me, have a little breakfast tea or something. But oh well! I got the recipe off Masterchef. ( I'm hooked on the show ) Haha. I watch it every evening, almost. While eating my not so fantastic dinners. And so, I was busily trying to write down the recipes the other day. Too much to squeeze onto my tiny post-it. So I made Darren type it out furiously on his laptop as well. So silly, we must have both looked. Trying to concentrate hard and remember all the steps!
We tried the 6 mins stovetop and oven snapper fillet and it was oh so lovely!
Do you watch Masterchef? And who are you rooting for? I kind of like the beer merchant guy because he's just so smart with his cooking. He used Beer in his cupcakes! And Julie for her sweet mom-sy character.
Can't wait for tonight's pressure test challenge. Poor Julie. I hope she makes it through this round!
Alright, I'm off to do some work!
See you cheerios!
xxxx!
{Edit} For those of you who asked for the snapper and pancake recipe, here it is!
Pancakes and Snapper!
Good luck with cooking!

I'll be back in a bit
image via papier-mache
Today, Darren and I along with some fun friends went down to Williamstown to fish. The waves were crazy.strong. and so.were.the.winds. It was SO SO SO cold.
I caught a chill, we lost I think 20 sinkers ( oh so embarrassing ) but caught two good sized snappers. I'm now home with a swollen left eye, still a little cold fingers, and a lingering headache. I should rest and stay away from the computer, reply my emails a little later, till my eye gets better. So yup, see you on Monday!
Take care and stay warm : )

My creative space!
Hello hello, how do you do : }
Anyway, I saw this cute little post at meetmeatmikes, and thought the wonderful Kristy did such a great job hosting it. So I thought I'd share with you all here, my little creative space, my studio, my little piece of heaven. I love it so much I'm in here almost everyday!
And so, there you have it! This is where I work, eat my lunches, paint, sometimes sleep and read. I've got three tables. Sometimes I move the middle one out. It depends. The table on the left is meant for working on my hand bound books, water colour paintings, and basically more paper sort of stuff. The skinny table ( As I like to call it ) is meant for dumping my dirty paintbrushes, paint tubes, paper palette, paintings, etc. I usually place my easel next to it and paint with all my paint tubes and oils at reach, just beside me. And the big table in the middle is usually placed there when I feel like blocking off my little space from everyone else. ( This is my studio space in school, so it's quite open ) But I usually place my glitter work in progress on the table. So yes, the table is usually filled with a work in progress and a lot of glitter powder.
( It's not clear in the pictures, but all the paintings you see hung on the wall, the text bits are all glittered! : )
I hope you like this little space of mine!
////++ooo++////
Happy weekend to all of you out there!

What I've been up to
* You're such a champ! You scrolled all the way down! *
Painting, painting and more painting! : ) I hope you like these little belongings I've painted.
Each alphabet represented a little object which means a lot to me.
I'm short of a letter 'x' cause I really don't have anything X-sy. Haha. No X-men stuff either! But I thought of something the other day, the letter 'X' in a bowl of yummy alphabet soup! : )
Thanks anyway for providing me with all the X-cellent suggestions! You guys rock! So in return, I'm sharing with all of you, this cute little video of three guys and their love for letterpress printing.
Alright, I'm off to school. See you!

Bringing smiles onto the streets
This is why I love being in art school so much. We get to do silly fun things like this. Hold a little Hope March, with silly signs, and dress up as anything we wish, and parade down to town. Super dooper Cool.
I wore a cute little bunny hat and held a love heart sign.
This little march was done, all in the name of fun. As a class, we had to do a little publication of sorts. We knew we wanted to do something fun yet meaningful at the same time. We didn't want to just visit some boring art show and write about it, and bind everyone's writing into a book. So we thought, why not bring some Hope and smiles onto the streets, especially during this gloomy time of economic crisis and loss of jobs. We thought if we dressed up silly and made strangers smile, things would seem somehow, a little brighter for them. After all, laughter is the best medicine.
Smile your worry away.
Or make someone, a stranger smile today.

I need help!
So tough! Especially when I don't have a dictionary with me.
Help me please, will you?
Thanks!

My Sweet little weekend!
Darren and I visited this quaint little cafe and had some really yummy food. I got myself a Pork & Fennel sausage with mozzarella panini. Darren got a Pork & Fennel sausage with three way cheese on sourdough toast. Both came hot, nice and yummy. We polished every bit of. It was so nice just sitting there in the cafe, just the two of us, eating our very late 4pm lunch while reading the cute books they had.
Feels nice. Go visit if you can : )

Yummy Yummy I've got love in my tummy!
You know that song? My friend used to sing it all the time, in my face. Haha. Cute friend, cute song.
Anyway, I made scones yesterday, and they turned out rather yummy!
I liked it, and Darren liked it too. He ate a bit and went: Actually, it's really quite nice. Mmmmmmmmm!
Haha. Good : )
***********
Just thought I'd share the little recipe.
It's so easy, you gotta make it, really!
1 cup self raising flour
1/2 cup skim milk Or just normal milk
1/2 cup cream
A dash of salt
A tablespoon sugar or icing sugar
Mix it all up, and scoop little tablespoons full and line them on a baking tray. Bake it in a rather hot oven for approx 10-15 minutes. The skin should be slightly crisp, and the insides, soft and fluffy.
Serve warm with butter, jam and some whipped cream. Oh and for the pretty effect, you can powder some icing sugar over the scones.
PS: I used the leftover cream from my 1/2 cup of cream and whipped it up along with some icing sugar. tastes really yummy!
Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you!
xxxxx

Can you smell the weekend?
I am So glad the weekend is almost here. I've been really really hardworking, the past few weeks. Painting in my studio almost everyday, waking up early every morning to do my work, even if it was a really cold morning ( good for sleeping in ). Most readers of my blog tell me it seems like I lead a very charmed sort of life, so carefree, so stress free, but no. I am just like any other international student, struggling with juggling everything. It's just that I don't enjoy posting sad or entries with me ranting a lot. I like reading happy blog posts on other people's blogs, So I believe I should do the same thing as well. Haha.
1.5 more weeks to my semester assesment, and Winter break. I c.a.n.n.o.t w.a.i.t!
I've been pushing myself extra hard this semester. With curating a little show, making my own zine and getting them sold at a shop here in Melbourne, breaking out from my usual boring paintings into something which has by far been my most successful works, starting my own little art business, making new namecards, getting my art displayed in a cafe, etc etc. Phew! What a mouthful!
I'll be heading home to Singapore and working from home, binding books, making more zines, and working on ideas for next semester's work. Printing and materials here in Melbourne, are just way too expensive!
Shina says I'm such a workaholic. Maybe, I don't know. But oh boy, I am oh so super tired and drained. You know, I'd really like to just lie in bed and stare up at the ceiling and not worry about anything for the day. Things like managing my finances, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, my little art business, my future. Etc.
I wish the world would just slow down just a bit.
Approx 6 hrs more till I declare it's the weekend!
