Dreaming of the sun and warmth, even when it's cold

Dreaming of the sun and warm, even when it's cold
Made this little drawing last week. One of those little drawings I did for fun. I'm in the process of hunting for the perfect paper stock, so I can start turning it into both large and small prints. I hope you like it : ) xx

PS: And yes, I've been taking a break from painting mountains and landscapes at my easel. Instead, I've been working on some pencil drawings. But as you can see, I am still thinking of mountains everyday.

Hello again!

Kings Cross StationBest Hot dogs!Best dogs!Sitting by the pier
Being in Woolloomooloo was heaps of fun! If you're a Sydney-sider, have you tried the
hot dogs at Harry's Cafe De Wheels? If you haven't, you got to try it! Darren and I
heard so much about it, so we made it a point to try it. We ordered a Chilli dog, and a
Hot dog de wheels and sat by the water to enjoy our little feast. Both were so good,
so yummy and so filling! We saw another outlet at the Sydney airport, just before
heading back to Melbourne. And we decided to try their pie. It was wonderful too!

I think enjoying hot dogs by the water, was one of my favourite memories of our trip.
It was simple, fuss-free and really nice.

I have so much more pictures from my Sydney adventure. I hope I'm not boring you!
I've still yet to tell you about Glebe, the MCA, and our little ferry trip to Manly
with my two cute friends! Alright I'll post more when I find time.

Sydney: Woolloomooloo

WoolloomoolooWoolloomoolooWoolloomoolooWoolloomoolooWoolloomoolooWoolloomoolooWoolloomooloo
And as promised, here's some more pictures from my Sydney trip! These were taken in this little suburb called Woolloomooloo. We loved the place! My favourite suburb! Amongst all the others I visited. It was quaint and lovely, with lots of dogs, young families, bookshops and so on. These are a few pictures first. Next week I will tell you more about this little town and our lovely adventure there!

I can't believe it's been a week already! I was working so hard and getting all hyped up for our fairy tale opening and it all whizzed by! Time flies when you're having fun and making nice art! You know, just the other night, I dreamt I sold my pieces from the show! In my dreams, I received the good news by email and I ran around the house jumping up and down like a jellybean, overly excited about the good news! I woke up the next morning and thought my dream was real. I had to double check my inbox twice! But nah, my dreams didn't come true. Haha. So funny though, to have such a dream! Anyway, I hope my pieces find good homes soon!

For now, I have to get back to packing! I will be heading home to Singapore tomorrow for a good 2 and a half months! I am going to miss Melbourne so much! But I'm glad to be able to return home to spend some quality time with my family and friends!

Alright, I'll be back next week! But before I go, I'll leave you with this sweet little film.

Enjoy your weekend, while I brace myself for yet another long flight home!
( I hate flying, it scares me! )
Au revoir!

Oh my sweetheart, do hold my hand

Oh my sweetheart, do hold my handOh my sweetheart, do hold my hand
I sat at my table yesterday for 8 hours straight and made some new drawings. This was one of them. I'm still thinking if I should paint the inside of the frames a light shade of peach pink. I'm not too sure yet. But I kind of like how it turned out. I'm trying to work on drawing people again. It's been ages!
Oh my sweetheart, do hold my hand
Wish I had a blouse like hers!

Sydney: Classic Architecture

Us at QVBQVBQVBWhen we were in Sydney last week, I fell in love with this building. I remember buying a little bookmark from one of the bookshops in the building, about 6 years ago. At 16, I was amazed by the intricate interiors, tiling of the building. The colours, classic victorian look and feel of it all. And last week, I took a stroll in the building again and fell in love with it all over again.

I mean, just look at the patterning on the floors! Aren't they gorgeous?!QVBQVB
It was funny how I wasn't very much interested in any of the shops there ( except Camper! Their shoes are way too beautiful to resist! ) Instead, I was happily looking and admiring all the wonderful patterns on the floor. Haha.

You see, that was one of the things I loved about Sydney! Beautiful building interiors and exteriors! I kept telling Darren how Sydney's buildings are so much more classic and vintage looking, compared to the more modern, futuristic buildings in Melbourne. Not saying that Melbourne's buildings aren't classic. But I guess there's just more in Sydney! Oh well, I still love both cities anyway! : )

Sydney: Arrival

George stGeorge stGalleryGallery chairsSweet shop Best Pad ThaiChat Thai on Campbell stCheap mangoes
We arrived in Sydney early in the morning and the very first thing that hit me after we reached the city, was the fact that Sydney is a really really hectic/confusing city! You know how it is in Melbourne, whereby the city is just basically a rectangular grid system. Pretty much dummy-proof. You see, I'm a failure when it comes to reading maps. I turn them to the left, to the right, all around and I probably would still not be able to figure out the right way! Yes, I know!

Thank goodness for Darren, we kind of figured our way out in the end. Lucky for me, I've got a semi-photographic memory. Whereas Darren's the sort who's good at maps. So I usually just tell him if I recall seeing the place/surrounds before while on the bus, on the internet, and he'll find the right way out. It's great that the both of us work well together this way!

Anyway, after finding our way around the city, we had thai lunch at this wonderful cafe. It was so so good! We ordered Pad Thai, spring rolls which came with crab meat ( The real deal, not the fake fish cake sort ), warm salad and dessert. So good, we ate till we were too full! But no regrets! Easily one of the best thai meals I've had in years!

After lunch, we decided to roam around the city and check out a little gallery, the famous paddy's market ( which we found a bit boring, since we weren't really into touristy things and souvenirs ) and walked all around till we got so warm we started dreaming of nice cold cheap mangoes. We came across a fruit stall and I wanted mangoes, but the thought of getting my hands all sticky, wasn't really enticing, so we settled for some Boost juice instead!

Definitely a lifesaver in the crazy 36 degree heat!

Alright, more in my next post!
( Which will be about the interiors of a wonderful building! )

Once Upon A Time...

There was a girl named Dawn. She loved drawing and painting and was lucky to be able to be part of a giant fairytale story, involving 37 other fantastic prince and princess artists! Under the magical blessings of two fairy sisters Angela and Renee, each of these 38 prince and princesses were told a fairytale bedtime story, so they could live and daydream and create artworks based on the stories. Princess Dawn got to listen to 'Thumbelina' and these were the artworks she came up with whilst daydreaming....

Yes yes! I am back from Sydney! Wooohooo! It was such a blessing to be able to fly up to Sydney to attend our giant fairytale opening! It felt like I was going to a ball!

Anyway, my artworks are now available for sale online here!
There are also 4 limited edition prints available for each of my drawings. Only $25 each! : )

So, for today, as I'm still recovering from my crazy whirlwind holiday, I'll just post photos from our opening night!

I had so much fun minus the crazy heat inside the gallery! I was able to meet Renee and Angela, the wonderful curators of the show! Thank you girls! You both did a magical job! : ) I also finally got to meet Miss Ebony kawaii Bizys of Hellosandwich! Along with her funny friend Eloise who works as a fabric designer! ( how cool is that! ) Ben, Chrissy Lau, Amy Borrell, Sarah Mcneil and so many more!

I was so excited before the opening and had butterflies in my stomach! But I'm glad it all went really well and sweet! Just like a happy fairytale indeed! Nice! Anyway, if you would like to purchase any works, or take a look at what the other artists have done, you could pop over the the Once Upon website and take a look! My works are up for sale and I've got just 4 prints available too! So go take a look! All our art pieces would make such nice christmas presents, don't you think? : )

*************************

It was so much fun! Being in Sydney and all. I was a bit sad to have to come home so fast. But you know, I still love Melbourne, so it wasn't that difficult to leave Sydney. Haha. I took so many photos! Over 400 actually! Yes, I went snap snap snap! All the way : ) And to show you all the wonderful places I've been to in just one single blog post, that's impossible. So I've decided to break up my entire Sydney trip into a few posts. So do keep coming back daily ( I'll try ) for new Sydney adventure photos!

Alright, off I go. I need to get some stuff for tonight's dinner. I'm making hainanese chicken rice! It's now almost 3 and I should run off. Also, to get myself lunch!
See you soon!

Dorky outfit post! + Too excited for Sydney!

Dorky outfit post
Guess what? In 24 hour's time, I will be jumping around like a happy excited girl, in.... where else but... SYDNEY!

Yes yes! I'm going to Sydney! Waking up at 3am tonight so we can catch out really early flight and be in Sydney at 8am tomorrow morning! I can't wait!

The reason why I'm flying up to Sydney is because... I'm going to be at the opening of this awesome awesome art exhibition. if you haven't heard about it, it's Leeloo's birthday party! To celebrate, they've invited 38 different unique artists from all over Australia to submit works based on fairy tales! I am so happy to say that I'm part of the 38 artists! I get to exhibit alongside well-known artists such as Catherine Campbell, Sarah Mcneil, Amy Borrell, Caitlin Shearer, Jessica Hyde, Bec Winnel and so so much more!

You can take a look at sneak peeks of my work here! My story was Thumbelina. And I was really inspired by this cute video clip which Amy Borrell recommended. ( Hi and thanks Amy! )

Anyway, the reason I did this dorky little outfit post was because I wanted to share with you guys what I'll be wearing to the show opening. There has been a bit of discussion going around amongst some of the artists about what we're going to wear and stuff. Haha. Quite fun to play dress up I guess. Haha.. So yes, that's what I'll be wearing! : )

Alright, I hope to see you Sydneysiders at the show opening! And of course I can't wait to FINALLY meet the lovely Miss Ebony, and my fellow Melbourne artist blog friends, Amy Borrell and Benzen, and catch up with Sarah Mcneil!

Alrightyo! Yay to the power x 10!
See you when I get back from my wonderful
super speedy three-day Sydney trip!

: )

Thinking of happy thoughts

lemons
My evening is turning into such a lousy night and I feel so blah. If you know what I mean. Feeling this way, is such a horrible feeling, so I try to cheer myself up, and think of happier thoughts instead.

Of nice smelling flowers, baskets of freshly plucked lemons, and nice treehouses, such as this one here. PS: I would love to have a studio just like that, in the trees, in the woods!
I would like to live in this

Ahh.. Keep dreaming...
